Right now I am currently working on a knitted blanket for a very good friend who is expecting a baby at the end of March. As a comic aside, her due date is around the same time that mine was only a year later and she is also expecting a girl:) I've made two of these already, one for another of my friends who's baby came in Feb of last year and when I was finished I was so impressed with the outcome I decided to make one for my daughter as well. Then I decided maybe this could be my "signature" shower gift for friends. It's a very fun pattern that I really enjoy working on and I got it from the Lion Brand Yarn website (http://cache.lionbrand.com/)for free patterns (you do have to register in order to see the patterns). It's called the Tree of Life Baby throw. The first one I made I used the recommended baby soft yarn, however my blankie and the one I'm currently working on I used Caron simply soft instead as I found it to be much softer. I substituted two 6oz skeins for the lion brand yarn. I have pictures of it but as I'm currently on my husband's mac rather than my laptop I don't have the pics accessible so I'll post them at a later date.
I am also working on sewing a shopping cart cover for Zoe (been in the works for some time now) but am finally seeing an end in sight:) The pattern (Simplicity) was a bit hard to understand so I ended up without a major piece of fabric..... Also ran into an issue yesterday wherein the pattern (at least to my eye) has you put the two pieces right side together, sew the opening for the legs, and then cut out the fabric to form the opening. While starting to work on it, I thought to myself that this is never going to work, how are you supposed to turn the pieces right side out? Of course it didn't work and so I had to seam rip it out and sew each side of the opening separately. This time it worked, but unless I'm missing something vital the instructions are way off. Either way it was only a minor setback and I am now down to the final stages. In fact my hope is to perhaps have it finished by the end of today. That being said I think I'll sign off now, finish my coffee and continue working on it:)
